Move over, Nutella, there’s a new European spread in town! Belgian biscuit company Lotus has just launched its spicy Biscoff biscuit spread in Australia and we’re ready to grab a spoon and get stuck in. If you’ve never tried them, Biscoff biscuits are caramelised shortcrust biscuits that are thin, crunchy and taste like cinnamon. They’re designed to be served alongside coffee, so in Europe lots of cafes and restaurants will serve you a single biscuit on the saucer of your hot drink as a mini dessert.
To make the spread (which comes in crunchy and smooth versions, just like peanut butter), lots of Biscoff biscuits are crushed up into a smooth paste. You can have it on toast, use it in your cooking or just grab a spoon and go to town. Did we mention it’s free of nuts and vegan-friendly? We’re into it.
